Echoes of Heritage: A Regal Onam Festivity
Onam, the vibrant festival of Kerala, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Geetha Bakshi, a distinguished writer, author, and literary enthusiast, known for her evocative storytelling and insightful literary contributions. Dr. K. V. Thomas, Director along with Mrs. Leelamma Thomas, Dean and Senior Principal made their presence felt, further elevating the significance of the occasion.
The celebration was a rich blend of cultural performances and traditional art forms. The choir mesmerized the audience with beautiful songs, setting a serene and joyful tone for the event. The rhythmic beats of Chendamelam brought the energy of the festival to life, filling the atmosphere with excitement.
Traditional performances like Pulikkali, where performers dressed as tigers entertained the crowd, and the graceful Thiruvathirakali, a traditional dance by women, were among the highlights of the day. A grand Onam procession led by Mahabali and singing of the boat song Kuttanada Kunjayille added colour and festivity to the occasion, showcasing the cultural richness of Kerala.
Additionally, students performed Nadan Pattu (folk songs), bringing the essence of Kerala’s rural traditions to the forefront. The entire celebration was a reflection of unity, joy, and the spirit of Onam, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
Alongside the cultural performances, students participated in various Onam-related competitions, with the winners being awarded prizes, adding an exciting and rewarding element to the event.
