CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Innerwheel Club of Greater Cochin organized an insightful Cancer Awareness Programme at Campion School to educate students and faculty on the importance of early detection, prevention, and management of cancer.

The programme began with a prayer by the School Choir, followed by a warm welcome address by Kumari Indumaya Meenakshi, Secretary of the Campion Interact Club.

The awareness session was led by Dr. K. Chitrathara, Head & Senior Consultant in Gynec and Surgical Oncology at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi. A highly respected specialist in the field, Dr. Chitrathara delivered an engaging and informative talk on the rising incidence of cancer and the crucial role of awareness in combating the disease. She explained the early warning signs of breast, cervical, and prostate cancers, stressing the importance of regular screenings, healthy lifestyle practices, timely medical intervention and awareness about preventive vaccinations.

The session also helped dispel common myths and misconceptions surrounding cancer, motivating participants to adopt a proactive approach to their health. It provided an open platform where students could freely ask questions and clarify their concerns.

Mrs. Leena Sasidharan, President of the Innerwheel Club of Greater Cochin, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Chitrathara for her valuable contribution and reaffirmed the Club’s dedication to community health and well-being.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Master Aadarsh Sarma, President of the Campion Interact Club.
