Onam is a vibrant Kerala harvest festival that celebrates prosperity, unity, and the legendary return of King Mahabali. Onam celebration of Primary Section conducted on 12-09-2024(Thursday) in a grand and traditional manner. The program started with a prayer song, curtain raiser followed by welcome speech. The celebration was inaugurated by Dr. K.V Thomas, Director Campion School . Dr. Leelamma Thomas, Dean and Senior Principal, Mrs. Malini Jayaram, Principal and Mrs. Mini Sinoy Primary Section In-charge also joined in the inaugural function. Dr. K. V Thomas, Director Campion School wished a very happy Onam. The Onam celebration was held with enthusiasm, marking a day of cultural richness. The day was filled with various activities that highlighted the essence of the harvest festival and fostered a sense of unity within the school. A cultural program followed, featuring performances such as: Onam Traditional Dance, Koithu Dance and Onapattu.
As part of the Onam celebration, the school conducted the “Malayali Manka” and “Kerala Sreeman” competitions, aimed at promoting awareness and appreciation of Kerala’s culture, traditions, and language. The event was an engaging and fun-filled experience, encouraging students to showcase their knowledge and talents related to the vibrant heritage of Kerala. Arrival of Mahabali with a grand procession was the highlight of Onam celebration.
In celebration of Onam, the school organized a series of competitions such as Flower carpet competition, Onapattu and Onam Greeting card Making. The Onam competitions were a huge success, bringing together students and teachers in a joyful celebration of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. The event encouraged creativity, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of the traditions and customs associated with Onam. It was a memorable and festive day for all involved, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the school community.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners of all the competitions. The celebration ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
